Capturing the comfort of familiarity.
Inspired by a blend of Japanese and European influences, Nikaido has been a staple of Steveston Village for over 30 years. They sell a special assortment of tea, pens, tableware and more. While hesitant to make such a big step, their goal was to expand their storefront to enable online orders and refresh the outdated feel of their static website. My job was to create a custom designed website on Shopify to help this well established brick and mortar store integrate a digital storefront.
Product Design
More than anything, the owners of Nikaido wanted a website that not only operated as a functional online shop, but they valued having a platform that would also give visitors an idea of their personality.
Through wire-framing and experience architecture we created a site map that improved navigation for both returning and new customers, as well as reflecting personality and style of the business.
Photography
Product photography and editing as well as updated shots of the store were essential in creating the refined look this business was aiming for.
Shopify Website
A whole bunch of creativity was required to make this website feel truly unique. Despite the restrictions of the base theme, we were able to create a custom look and feel throughout several pages. The biggest addition to this ecommerce website was the wide collection of over 70 teas. Through the use of detailed collections and tags we managed to create an easy to use shop page for customers to find exactly what they need.
